Ondeando banderas tricolores y con mucha “fe”, venezolanos vinieron al santuario de Fátima a pedirle a la Virgen que conceda “el milagrito” de la paz en Venezuela, y al papa, esperado este viernes, que se involucre para detener la violencia que ya deja 38 muertos en el país, reseña AFP.
“No puede ser que estén matando a nuestra gente joven y yo vengo a pedirle el milagrito a la Virgen”, señaló a la AFP Egda Romero, una sexagenaria que vino desde Maracaibo (oeste de Venezuela) para las celebraciones por el centenario de las apariciones de la Virgen en Fátima, Portugal.
Con un sombrero con los colores de la bandera venezolana, amarillo, azul y rojo, que la distingue entre la multitud que se concentra en la explanada frente a la Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Fátima, Romero lamenta: “La gente preparada se está yendo del país, porque no tenemos democracia”.
Como ella, José Ornelas, un hombre de 59 años que nació en Portugal pero que a corta edad se residenció en Venezuela, sintió la necesidad de peregrinar desde Caracas para pedir a la Virgen María por su país adoptivo.
“Estoy en Fátima para rezar mucho a la Virgen y pedirle que intervenga (…). Estamos viviendo una espiral de mucha violencia, por eso vinimos, a rezar para que nos dé un milagro de paz para Venezuela, que tanta falta nos hace”, dice este hombre dueño de una librería, que carga una enorme bandera venezolana.
“Al papa, que por favor intervenga por la paz de Venezuela, porque mucha falta nos hace”, agrega Ornelas.
El Vaticano ya acompañó el año pasado un fracasado diálogo entre el gobierno y la oposición para tratar de buscar soluciones a la aguda crisis económica y política. La oposición se levantó de la mesa al acusar al chavismo de incumplir los acuerdos.
La tensión se puso al rojo vivo desde hace seis semanas, con la oposición convocando casi a diario manifestaciones contra el presidente Nicolás Maduro, que muchas veces degeneran en disturbios, dejando hasta ahora 38 muertos.
– “Que el papa sepa que existimos” –
Ante el resurgir de la violencia, el papa Francisco ofreció a fines de abril mediar, pero con “condiciones muy claras”.
La oferta fue no obstante rechazada por la oposición, que pide adelantar las presidenciales de diciembre de 2018, hasta tanto el gobierno no ofrezca una serie de garantías.
Ante la crítica del papa que identificó como un problema para su acción pacificadora las divisiones dentro de oposición venezolana, Naileth Chami, de 42 años, pidió al pontífice argentino “oír a todas las partes” y “al pueblo, que somos los que estamos en la calle”.
“Queremos la paz de Venezuela, queremos que el papa nos oiga y sepa que estamos, que existimos”, señaló la mujer, ataviada con prendas de vestir con el tricolor venezolano, que intentará colocarse lo más cerca de la Basílica para escuchar la tarde del viernes el mensaje del papa, que hará un peregrinaje de 24 horas a Fátima para canonizar a dos pastorcitos que aseguraron haber visto varias apariciones de la Virgen hace cien años.
“El papa es humano, yo no lo juzgo. El diálogo es difícil con esa gente (el gobierno)”, lamenta de su lado Olga Celis, de 77 años, venida desde Valencia (norte de Venezuela).
Pero Francisco “sería el mediador adecuado para este conflicto” por su mensaje de paz, aseguró Ornelas.
Afirmando “tener fe en Dios de que va a haber una solución” pronto, este luso-venezolanos garantizó que pese a la crisis no abandonará su país adoptivo: “No lo voy a dejar, porque esta tierra (Portugal) me vio nacer, pero aquella tierra me vio trabajar, tengo dos patrias”.
